Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I have my thesis professionally formatted?

Having your thesis professionally formatted saves you stress, anxiety, and most importantly, time. Learning all of the details of SDSU's thesis regulations is tedious and time consuming. If you're looking to submit your thesis for publishing ASAP, getting your thesis professionally formatted ensures that your thesis will be formatted efficiently and correctly.

(a) My rates are lower.
(b) I'm faster -- I am not limited to 9-5, M-F. I am on-call to answer your questions at all hours and will respond to your questions very quickly, despite the hour of the day. This means if you finish your thesis on Friday, we can have it ready to be approved by the reviewer on Monday.
(c) You can contact me anytime! And you never have to leave your computer for the entire process. It's all online!
(d) I will give you the personal attention that MP simply can't and won't because they are a business and I am an SDSU graduate wanting to make this process easiest for you.

When can the thesis formatting start?

Formatting starts when your entire committee has signed off on your signature page. Once the content of your thesis is completely approved, then we may begin the formatting process.

How long does the formatting take?

Depending on the length and complexity of the thesis, formatting can take anywhere from 2 days to 1 week. This also depends on what time of year it is. Obviously, many students would like to get their thesis in before the at-risk deadlines so it is very important to contact me as early as possible. All you need to know is an aproximate time for when you will be finished with your thesis so that you may reserve formatting time.

How much do you charge?

My base charge is $3/page. Depending on the length and complexity of the thesis, the charge may go up from there. If you're looking for a quote, email me a copy of your thesis and I will respond promptly with your personalized quote.

How can I reserve your services?

Reservations are not required but are helpful should you want to be sure that you will have your thesis ready to submit exactly when you need. When you are sure that you would like your thesis professionally formatted, you can reserve my time by filling out the information on the reservations page. This includes a $50 non-refundable deposit that guarantees my formatting services for the time you need. This deposit will go towards your balance once your thesis is formatted.

If the time you expect to be finished changes from your reservation, it is not a problem. Just be sure to contact me as soon as plans change and we can work around it. It is better to make a tentative reservation, and have it change, than to not make one and lose your chance to have your thesis formatted.

When are you available?

I am always available and highly responsive. Email me anytime and I will get back to you quickly.

How can I pay?

The preferred method is with any major credit card via paypal. Once the formatting is complete I will post a link on my website for you which you can click on, pay, and be done within minutes.

Can I be sure you will do a good job?

I am a SDSU approved formatter and I have successfully formatted many thesis from many departments. Take a look at my testimonial page and you can rest assured your thesis is in good hands.

What do you mean by "style guide"?

Style guide means the way that you document your references within your thesis. (For example, APA, MLA, etc.) See page 16 in the SDSU Dissertation and Thesis Manual to see what style guide your department uses. If there is not one listed, you need to discuss this with your chair. Your references (in-text and references page) should be documented in a specified style guide before thesis formatting begins.

Is it a problem if I don't live in San Diego?

Not at all. We can have your thesis formatted all via email and submit it to the Thesis Reviewer electronically.

What happens after the formatting is completed?

Once your thesis has been formatted, you will submit your thesis to the Thesis Reviewer located in the Graduate and Research Affairs office. The Reviewer will verify your formatting and once approved, your thesis is ready to be sent to Montezuma Publishing and you're done!
