Flat-Fee

This service involves a $200 flat fee. It is limited to theses of 80 pages or LESS. If your thesis is more than 80 pages, please see the Traditional service.

The flat fee service includes the following:

(A) A flat-fee of $200, regardless of tables/figures.

(B) A personalized webpage with online tutorials specific to your department that outline common basic formatting issues that may need to be addressed prior to formatting. These include, but are not limited to, common issues with headings, in-text citations, reference page, etc.

(C) After you have followed the tutorials, and adjusted your thesis accordingly, you submit the thesis one time for formatting. If your thesis has been adjusted according to the tutorials, and does not require further content corrections, you can expect about a 48 hour turnaround. If the thesis is has not been adjusted according to the tutorials, it will be sent back to you for corrections and will most likely take longer than 48 hours to complete.

Traditional

This is the traditional formatting service and includes the following:

(A) A personal quote regarding a per/page fee for your thesis.

(B) A pre-defense formatting (at no extra charge).

(C) A personalized walk through of all content issues that prohibit formatting (headings, in-text citations, reference page, etc.).

(D) After your content is finalized, typical turn-around is 3-7 days depending on the your response time to any content corrections.

Q: Should I wait until my content is approved by my committee to start the SDSU formatting process?

A: You can, but it is best to make your reservation right away as there are several tips I can give you to save time during formatting.

Q: What do I need to know before I start the formatting process?

A: There are two major components you, and your committee chair, need to have decided prior to formatting:
(1) Whether you will be using chapter, technical, or section style.
(2) The style guide you will be using for your references.

Q: What do you mean by chapter, technical, or section style?

A: This is the way your thesis is organized and is determined by which department you are in. For a list of SDSU departments and the style they require, click here. If you are not sure which one to use, consult your committee chair asap.

Q: What is a style guide? Isn't that the SDSU formatting guidelines?

A: No, the style guide is how you document the sources you used in your project -- specifically your in-text citations and reference page. Each department has a specific way of documenting sources. If you do not know the style guide for your department, click here. Common style guides are APA and MLA. If you are not sure on which one to use, consult your committee chair asap.

Q: What happens after I submit the thesis to the publisher?

A: Your thesis should pass review with no problems. Should adjustments need to be made, we'll be happy to make them for you, no extra charge.
